What makes Lebua Sky Bar so special?

Lebua Sky Bar is Bangkok’s most famous rooftop bar. One of the reasons is that some scenes of the movie “Hangover 2” were shot here.

Many visitors also know the Rooftop Bar as The Hangover Sky Bar, The Dome, or simply The Sky Bar.

And in fact, the bar is much more than just a viewing platform. It has become a symbol of luxury, elegance, and extravagant flair in Bangkok.

The stylish interior, subdued lighting, and modern design create a great atmosphere that guarantees a memorable visit.

In 2020, Lebua Sky Bar received the World Travel Award as “Asia’s Leading Hotel Rooftop Restaurant & Bar 2020.”

It’s also listed on the New York Times’ “36 Hours in Bangkok” – where it was described as “the most stunning rooftop bar you’ll ever see.”

Sunset is definitely the best time to visit Lebua Sky Bar.

The Rooftop Bar transforms into a magical place when the sun slowly slips over the horizon and bathes the city in warm light.

The play of colors in the sky, the glittering lights of the city, and the majestic river give it almost a poetic touch.

Lebua Sky Bar experience: What do guests criticize?

But like many other famous bars and restaurants, Lebua Sky Bar’s fame seems to have gone a bit to its head.

Since management changed just before the pandemic, reports of rip-offs at the Rooftop Bar have piled up to near fraudulent levels.

In most of the world’s major cities, people have almost become accustomed to the fact that prices are rising every year and have doubled in some cases within two years.

In the meantime, however, guests are already intercepted at the elevator and taken to a less nice bar outside. Here, the first overpriced drink is already to be ordered.

However, if you politely insist on visiting the “actual” Lebua Sky Bar, you will most likely be taken there.

But here, too, you fall right into the next trap: just above the stairs is a bar that supposedly only serves champagne.

However, after asking several times, some guests said they could also choose from three different cocktails.

For the fact that the drinks are rather average, the prices here are already extremely high at 2700 baht (about 70 euros).

In addition, there’s a tax and service charge, so we’re talking about around 80 euros for a single drink.

For example, in the Lebua Sky Bar itself, the cheapest glass of white wine starts at around 30 euros.

What is the dress code at Lebua Sky Bar?

The dress code at Lebua Sky Bar is Smart Casual – this applies to both adults and children.

Not allowed are:

  • Sportswear or jerseys

  • Slippers and flip-flops
