If you’re a seafood or cheese lover (or ideally both), Gourmet Market at Emporium has two French food promotions running every weekend through the end of March that are worth knowing about.
Both are happening at Jagota’s specialty counters on the 4th floor: Stella de la Mer, their European-style imported seafood counter, and Gran Mercado, a delicatessen stocked with premium cheeses, charcuterie, and imported goods. The deals only kick in during specific Golden Hour and Happy Hour windows, so you’ll need to time your visit.
French Oysters and Shellfish at Stella de la Mer
Every Saturday and Sunday this month, Stella is running one-hour Golden Hour promotions twice a day (1:00–2:00 PM and 5:00–6:00 PM) with rotating discounts on shellfish flown in directly from France.
Here’s what’s coming up over the next two weekends:
March 21–22: Fine de Claire Oysters (No. 3) drop from 225 THB to 150 THB for three. These are cultivated in the cold waters of Marennes-Oléron in Normandy and are known for their creamy, slightly briny flavor. Best enjoyed with a squeeze of lemon, a splash of mignonette sauce, and a glass of Champagne if you’re feeling fancy.
March 28–29: Premium Cancale Oysters (No. 3) go from 255 THB to 170 THB for three. These come from Mont-Saint-Michel Bay in Brittany, one of France’s most celebrated oyster regions. Firm texture, a sweet-salty balance, and that unmistakable clean sea aroma.
Both deals are available only during the Golden Hour time slots and only at the Stella counter.
French Cheese Tastings at Gran Mercado
A few steps away, Gran Mercado is running “Say Les Fromages,” a month-long French cheese campaign with two things worth showing up for.
First, the Happy Hour deal: every Saturday and Sunday from 5:00–6:00 PM, spend 900 THB or more on French cheese, and you’ll receive a complimentary Rutherford & Meyer Quince Paste or Fig Paste (valued at 115 THB). Both pair beautifully with a cheeseboard.
Second, throughout March, there are cheese-tasting sessions where you can sample a rotating selection of French varieties, including Brie de Meaux AOC, Camembert, Roquefort, Comté, Mimolette, and Chabichou. Staff walks you through the different milk types, production regions, and wine pairings for each cheese. It’s genuinely educational, even if you already know your way around a fromage counter.
The Insider Tip
Time your visit for the 5:00 PM window on a Saturday or Sunday, and you can hit both promotions back-to-back.
Grab oysters at Stella during Golden Hour, then walk over to Gran Mercado for the cheese Happy Hour. That’s a very French afternoon at Emporium for a very reasonable price.
