Ready to level up your nightlife? While Bangkok is famous for nightlife districts like Khao San Road and Soi Cowboy, let’s be honest – they can be a bit seedy.
Partying till the wee hours of the morning on Khao San Road is definitely a memorable experience, but sometimes the night calls for something a little classier.
Thankfully, Bangkok’s nightlife scene has so much more to offer, like epic rooftop bars and clever speakeasies. So where will you find them?
In Sukhumvit, of course, Bangkok’s trendiest neighborhood. When you’re ready for expertly crafted cocktails, top-tier DJs, and unbeatable aesthetics, head to these top 5 cocktail bars in Sukhumvit, Bangkok.
First Things First – Where is Sukhumvit?
Sukhumvit Road is one of the main east-west streets of Bangkok, but “Sukhumvit” is also used to describe a neighborhood. It’s an area of the city that sits between Suvarnabhumi Airport and Bangkok’s Old City.
The heart of Sukhumvit centers around the BTS Skytrain, between Nana and On Nut stations. Lower Sukhumvit (Nana and Asok) and Mid Sukhumvit (Phrom Phong, Thong Lo, and Ekkamai) are the heavy hitters, where the city’s best bars and Michelin-starred restaurants reside.
The Top 5 Cocktail Bars in Sukhumvit, Bangkok
While there is no shortage of excellent cocktail bars in Sukhumvit, these 5 are some of the best.
After living in Thong Lo for 4 months, we visited a slew of top bars in the area and can vet these as the cream of the crop based on first-hand experience.
1. Tichuca
Tichuca might just be one of the coolest rooftop bars in the world, let alone Bangkok. Dominated by an epic, giant, tree-like light fixture, stepping onto this rooftop feels like stepping into the movie “Avatar.”
You’ll be treated to incredible 360° views of the city from its multiple viewing platforms on the 46th floor, and cushy couches to lounge on (if you order bottle service).
Heads up though – the process of getting into Tichuca is a bit strange. First, you’ll queue up on the first floor and “sign in” with a host. Expect a bit of a wait, as Tichuca is understandably very popular.
Then, you’ll select and purchase your drink before getting on the elevator – the bar’s way of making sure you’re not just there for the views.
Once you ascend the elevator, you’ll hand your ticket to the bartender, they’ll give you a number, and then you pick up your drink once it’s called, sort of like at the deli counter.
- Cocktail Pricing: High for Bangkok, expect about 400-500 baht ($13-$16) per drink
- Location: Thong Lo. Get off at BTS Thong Lor station and walk east about 5 minutes
- Official Website: Tichuca Rooftop Bar
2. Havana Social
A visit to Havana Social is a trip back in time. Welcome to pre-revolutionary, 1940’s Cuba, where the rum is flowing, the cigars are smoking, and incredible Latin music lights up the night.
Havana Social is expertly decorated to feel completely immersive, and definitely shouldn’t be missed on your visit to Bangkok.
While not required, we do recommend making a reservation at Havana Social, as it’s quite popular, especially later in the evening when the band starts up. This venue does require a cover of 400 baht (~$13), but it includes your first drink.
Note that Havana Social has an age requirement (20+) and a dress code (no sportswear, no sandals, no sleeveless shirts for men, and no backpacks or large bags), so make sure you’re dressed to impress and dance the night away!
- Cocktail Pricing: Mid-range for Bangkok, expect about 340-380 baht ($11-$12) per drink
- Location: Nana. Get off at BTS Nana station and walk north on Soi 11 about 10 minutes
- Official Website: Havana Social
3. Rabbit Hole
Easily one of the coolest cocktail bars in Sukhumvit, Bangkok, Rabbit Hole stands out for its inventive drink menu.
Themed as a crossword puzzle of world capitals, each cocktail is designed to capture the essence of the city it’s named after. I recommend trying the “Ankara,” a warm coffee-flavored cocktail crafted in honor of Turkish coffee.
Meanwhile, some drinks like the “Berlin,” with curry and caramelized onion, may be a bit too adventurous for the average patron.
We were lucky never to have to wait more than 5 minutes for a table, but it’s usually full, so be prepared just in case. Once inside, expect a dark, sultry vibe perfect for date night.
- Cocktail Pricing: High for Bangkok, expect about 400-460 baht ($13-$15) per drink
- Location: Thong Lo. Get off at BTS Thong Lor station and walk north on Thong Lo road about 10 minutes
- Official Website: Rabbit Hole
4. Escape
When visiting Bangkok, you’ll quickly learn that its malls are for more than just shopping. Rooftop bar Escape is a prime example of this.
Located on the 4th floor of the luxury mall EmQuartier, this cocktail bar is an absolute blast. It has a Miami Vice vibe that is buzzing with energy.
Here, you can enjoy tropical-themed drinks, fresh oysters from the attached restaurant, and even cigars.
They feature a live band and dance floor that is packed with patrons, along with professional dancers who make sure the energy stays high.
- Cocktail Pricing: Mid-high for Bangkok, expect about 380-420 baht ($12-$13) per drink
- Location: Phrom Phong. Get off at BTS Phrom Phong station and go to the 4th floor of EmQuartier mall

5. #FindTheLockerRoom
Speakeasy #FindTheLockerRoom is pure nostalgia at its finest. Each of its drinks is themed after cultural icons of the decades, from the 1960’s to the 2010’s.
Choose from categories like Music, Toys, and Fashion, and get ready for a drink full of whimsy. I got the “I Choose You!,” which looked exactly like the cocktail version of a Pokémon ball – half red, half white, and a blueberry in the middle to complete the picture.
You’ll need a reservation to visit #FindTheLockerRoom, so make sure to plan ahead. When you arrive, look for a graffitied alley near a blue dumpster – this is a true speakeasy, and you’ll need to search a bit to earn your visit!
- Cocktail Pricing: High for Bangkok, expect about 460-550 baht ($15-$17) per drink
- Location: Thong Lo. Get off at BTS Thong Lor station and walk north on Thong Lo road about 15 minutes
- Official Website: #FindTheLockerRoom
